    ticks,

It's great living where loons are. I love their haunting cry floating over a lake at dusk.

Were you able to see them when the kids younger riding on the mom's back?

We rescued a loon off the road last year...didn't even know they were indigenous to our area. It was beautiful!!!! We were just driving to church and it was lying in the road. It looked as if a car had clipped it across the feet, as that was the only area I could find an injury. It wouldn't stand or walk. We took it to church and phoned every state (VA) office we could, to find someone to give that bird to...no luck! Someone said they would just kill it if I gave it to the DNR anyway! Can you believe that? I took it to a calm stretch of water in an isolated place and let it go and it seemed to swim just fine. I will never forget the sound of its call...never! It was so hauntingly beautiful. You are so lucky to have them near you! They are such beautiful birds. I'll try to post a pic of the one we found....there!

Watch out for that heron if its around your house, I know they eat ducklings Im sure a chick would be just as easy a snack.
