We just butchered our turkeys...man, they were FAT. Lots and lots of fat. Yuck. They make me want to go on a diet and never eat anything that resembles turkey food!

What did you feed them? How old were they? We process our BBW's and they were HUGE but there wasn't a lot of fat.

Just curious. We have a few bronzes to process.

They weren't too old, but they were past the 16 week age. We've been feeding them regular turkey food or layer pellet if we were out of turkey food. It's been a crazy summer for us, so we didn't get around to butchering all the turkeys at the same time. The other three that we did a month ago didn't have as much fat (especially on the internal organs), but they do have a layer under the skin.
