This is one of my all time favorite cakes.....

    Hot Milk Sponge Cake

-In a saucepan melt 1 stick butter and add 1 cup milk and set aside.
-In a large bowl beat 4 eggs.
    Add: 2 cups granulated sugar
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp vanilla

    Mix well then add:
2 cups all purpose flour and the butter/ milk mixture.

Pour into a greased 13"x9" pan and
    Bake @ 350 for 30-35 min......(or clean toothpick)

After removing from oven melt 1 stick of butter over surface of cake, I usually us a fork and "paint" the cake. Once butter is melted sprinkle with powdered sugar.

I forgot to ask what everyone elses' favorite recipes are.....

  2. I have a quick recipe!!

I take any cake mix and of course mix it all up and set aside.
Then I take a pan about 9x11 and pour a can or 2 of any pie filling at the bottom and add nuts, chips, coconut or whatever you like and pour the cake mix over the top and pop in oven!!! You can do all sorts of combos and it is oh so quick and delish!!!!

This has become a favorite of my husbands, and it's quick and easy. It is also very moist.

1 pkg German chocolate (or devils food) Cake Mix (store bought seems to work best for this recipe)
1 can of German chocolate Icing (homemade is ok for the icing) Don't forget the pecans.

Preheat oven to 325. (Note important to turn down oven just a tad)
Grease and flour bundt cake pan.

Mix cake mix according to directions on box. When well mixed, stir the ICING into the uncooked mixture. Mix well. Pour into pan.
Tap the sides of the pan against the side of cabinet (releases air bubbles) Cook for about 40 to 45 minutes. Watch carefully, let cool for 10 minutes, then flip onto cake plate. You need no icing...your cake will be rich and moist. For a pretty effect you can shift powdered sugar onto the top. [IMG]

[IMG] With Spring coming, (I've got little plants growing in my window sills), It makes me think of gardening...and my favorite cake

    Chocolate Zucchini Cake

    2 1/2 cup flour
    1 3/4 cup sugar
    4 Tbsp. cocoa

    1/2 tsp. nutmeg (optional)

    1 tsp soda
    2 large eggs
    1 tsp vanilla
    1/2 cup sour cream
    2 cup raw, shredded Zucchini

Preheat oven to 350. Mix dry ingredients first. Stir in liquid ingredients, mix well for 2 minutes, add zucchini, mix well.
Cook till toothpick trial. (about 45 minutes)

    1 stick butter
    6 tbsp milk
    4 tbsp cocoa
Bring to a boil in saucepan. Remove from heat.
1 box powdered sugar (about 2 cups)
1 cup nuts (we prefer pecans)
    1 tsp vanilla

    Spread over cooled cake. Enjoy.

This was my grandmother's recipe...then my mom's, mine, and now yours. I love the flavor, I've made it for several church socials...always gets great reviews. I am a third generation pastor's wife. So I like the tried and true.

You know why the mayonnaise works so well don't you? It is made from just eggs and oil.

Here's a simple recipe and it's lower in calories too.

Take any cake mix (dry) and pour in any can of diet soda, mix well and pour into 9x13 pan and cook according to directions on box. Cool and spread with light cool whip and refrigerate.

I used red velvet cake mix and diet coke....it was delicious!!

I was told that lemon cake mix and diet sprite was good also.

Bet chocolate cake and diet cherry coke would be good.
