Back in April, I posted that my hen and feather loss and inflamed skin:

    https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/871508/feather-loss-and-red-skin

She had broken feathers and was bald on her keel and breast. She had a scaly scab on her keel.

She is on H&H old fashioned layer, has access to oyster shell and grit and is allowed to free-range. I give her boss and mealworms that I grow myself. We do not use pesticides in our yard.

I treated her with three doses of poultry dust and did a deep cleaning in the coop and pen. She has always laid a very distinctive egg, very pointy and sometimes misshapen. She also drops the occasional rubber egg in the middle of the night. Her laying definitely dropped off with the feather loss and she seemed a little "off."

On July 16th, I found her squatting in front of the coop that evening and she had what looked like a popped white balloon hanging out of her vent with broken yolk on the ground. I soaked her in a sink of warm water but she did not expel anything. I gently pulled out the rubber shell and flushed her vent with diluted vinegar. Her poop was white and yellow. I took her to the vet the next morning. He found no signs of parasites, prolapsed vent or egg binding. He put her on 1.6cc of Bactrim twice a day for ten days.

She has not laid an egg since and has continued to decline while I was out of town this last week. She has lost a lot of weight and feathers and is not her usually bossy self. She has very watery poop with green in it. I treated her with Frontline two weeks ago and dosed her with Valbazen this morning. I have been feeding her scrambled egg with Greek yogurt along with her regular food. She is eating but definitely less than normal. I do not know if this is a reproductive issue or what. Please help!

This is what the scab looks like now. I am treating it with Neosporin now.

This is the area below her vent. It is very red but the flash washed it out.

This is her bald crop with scab on keel.

Is there anything under the scab like an abscess?
