feather trim ?

    i have two crested legbars about 20 weeks old, one has a lovley crest but the other has a mop of a crest and it is obstructing her veiw, she often walks into things, we have trimed it once but it seemed to grow back twice as quick, any ideas ?

    Most people trim crests on crested birds if the crests obstruct their vision. Really common with polish and silkies especially. Show birds people will either tape or rubberband the crests back since they can't tape them. Don't know of anything else you can really do besides band, trim or pluck them if they have that much.

    I have silkies and I must keep their feathers cut for them to see. I just cut very very s short in eye area and make a eye " cut out" it lasts a good month then its time to do it again. It has to be done pretty much monthly.
