How much out of one pound does one chicken eat a day? Say I had four adult chickens, would they eat 1 pound all together, or do they need more? Thanks!

From 2 to 4 pounds per week, according to Gail Damerow in Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens. The book also states that they need more in cold weather to maintain body temperature.

The wide variation based on light, dual purpose or heavy breed of chicken. 2 pounds for light, 3 pounds for mid-weight dual purpose and 4 pounds for heavy. For each meat bird she says 10-pounds to reach butchering size, and for bantams aoubt 1/2 pound of feed per week.

On average they would eat 1 lb. per 4 if they are light like a leghorn or 1 1/3 lbs./day if they are a heavier breed. This is just an average however.
