I have some Black Copper Marans that should start laying really soon. I know their egg color is determined by genetics, but is there anything that can be feed to them to assist them in laying the darkest eggs possible?

thanks

If you think the feed will make a difference go to the Gamebird- Flight developer or Flock raiser.

I just stick to the good old fashioned Del's layer pellets.

What you feed them will have absolutley nothing to do with their egg color, only possibly egg production. Your choice of brand of layer pellets should be just fine.

It's genetics 99.9 percent and a little bit access to grass....Ours lay better/darker grass access than not!

Your first eggs will be among your darkest, so if they are not dark enough now, the genetics work begins....That being said, marans are a work in progress and that's what makes them fun!
