Hi folks, I have a question in regards to feed. Im currently feeding a mix of layers mash, finch seed and chick crumb to my quails (coturnix), along with fresh greens here and there, chick weed and they regularly have access to outdoors via a run. I also supplement them with cat biscuit crumbs and suet block or mealworms.

I currently have a hen i'm nursing back to health after a large cut on her upper thigh. Shes doing incredibly well but she is significantly lighter and smaller than the others. My other hens are averaging at about 200g in weight whereas my poorly one is at about 130g. Any suggestions for weight gain and conditioning?

Thanks in avance.

What protein percentage are you feeding? If your using chicken food and chicken starter then that is not enough protein for your birds. They need minimum 24% and layer crumble is 15% chick starter is 22% so if your mixing these they are still 4-5% shy are protein. Also layer mash has infused calcium which can build calcium deposits in quail roosters internal organs.

As for her being smaller, either its genetic, she's getting bullied off the food, or she's been sick and you didn't notice.
