Can I feed 3 week old chicks cooked egg? I feed starter crumbles, but one chick is a little smaller. Would eggs help her catch up with her sisters?
Some chicks, whether the same breed or different breeds, are just smaller than others. That can clearly show up at three weeks so don’t get too concerned as long as she is acting normal. No matter what you do she may never catch up, but if she is supposed to be smaller, that doesn’t matter unless your goals require all larger chickens. Often my smaller hens lay the nicer eggs. Just how much smaller is she? Yes, you can feed her and the others cooked egg if you wish. They shouldn’t even need grit for that, but I like to give them some grit whether they need it or not. I think it helps them set their system up the way it is supposed to be and they are prepared if they eat something that requires grit.
Thank you! She seems fine otherwise. And she's very feisty...can definitely hold her own with the big girls!
Sometimes the smallest hens lay the largest eggs. I have a Cream Legbar hen who is no larger than a ten week-old chick and she lays jumbo eggs. You can also feed tofu. It's not known by many that it's made from the same stuff (soy) as chicken feed. It's high in protein and easy to digest.
Hi I'm new to raising chicks can i feed my 3 weekers some organic apples that have turned? Not to badlyle turned but some squishy brown spots?
