So, I have read a few times that people will feed hardboiled eggs to their chickens. I was thinking about doing this for my Welsh Harlequins. If any of you do this, do you leave the shell mixed in (broken up finely), or do you peel first?

Hi,
I don't know anything about your breed, but with my game chickens I don't let them have the shell. The only reason is because I'm afraid it might start them to eat eggs intended for hatching. Good luck!

I just kind of crunch the shell a bit in my hand and toss it the egg out there. The chickens take care of the rest. Shell and all. They leave a lot of shell laying around, too. The dogs get that. I have not seen or had any egg eating in any nest boxes.
