feeding chickens

i have two qustions i have 5 chickens 4 our laying and ones about a month intell she lays should i feed layers feed or chick feed. and if i let them free range for a hour a day will that lower how much feed they eat. my mom dosnt want them out all day and our fens is broken so they will be watched.

Yeah, you can feed layer feed to everyone. And yes, if they are foraging, their feed intake will be less.

Mine eat about 1/8 of a pound less per chicken per day when they are able to forage.
