Feeding crushed peppers and chili powder for darker yolks

I read about a guy in Arizona I think, that fed his chickens' crushed peppers for red yolks. I myself would not want red yolks, but I have been giving the girls crushed peppers and chili powder in the morning with their oatmeal. I've been feeding them for about 6 months and a big difference, in both the darkness and the breeds too. the one on the left is my California Gray, the other is a Blue Copper Maran. After I cook the oats (about 2 cups cooked) I sprinkle the top of it with both the power and crushed peppers let it cool and give it to them after the morning feed.
aprox. 1/4 cup crushed and a TBL. powder. That's for 7 girls
