Feeding my 7 1/2 week old red stars

Calcium. That is an enemy of young birds. It is a proven, studied threat. It causes renal issues and gout.

Your feed company has a chart called a Feed Chart. Sometimes they print this chart right on the bag edge or on the back. For certain, it will be on the company's website.

The feeding recommendation for young, growing pullets is either Starter, Starter Grower, Grower, or an All Flock- Flock Raiser type feed. Honestly, just about any of the feeds except Layer. Layer isn't magical. It is essentially just Grower with double the dose of calcium that only a laying hens needs as she expels all those egg shells.

Hope that clears the air.
