Can you give chickens cabbage leaves raw. Does it need to be chopped up in small pieces. Can I give them the center piece of the cabbage.

My girls get all of their treats diced into tiny bits. They get so exited when I break out the cutting board it's comical. OK that should be edited. I once caught them eating a snake so they can probably handle a head of cabbage.

Anything chickens eat can be given raw and is better raw. ETA(except soybeans)
Wild chickens don't have stoves.

I chop up the cabbage because they seem to eat more that way.
I feed collard greens whole and they do OK.

CC I would love to see a picture of your chooks. On another note, the girls have never had cabbage, as I don't eat cabbage

They go thru about a head of lettuce per week, though. Celery and tomatos are a big favorite as well.

Well I chopped the cabbage in small pieces. Apparently my chickens don't like cabbage. They didn't eat it at all.

young chicken do not always know what to do with "people food"

it seems like all they want is crumble.

once mine join the main flock they learn the joys "people food"

kind of like a baby on formula

they will learn don't worry

OMG x1000

I must admit that I had quartered it but it didn't matter one bit to them. They attacked it from all sides and were done with it in less than 24 hours.

My DH was wondering how the coop smelled that night. Do chickens get gas?
