You, as only a chicken parson knows, can tell that newborn baby chirp. And I was like where is it coming from and sure enough there was one of my free range Mama's with 10 babies. She apparently his under part of a trailer bed my husband was cutting up and hatched hem I had no clue they were even there.

I'm not sure whether I love or hate it when that happens. On the one had, I've suddenly got fifteen chicks I had no intention of having. On the other hand, they're adorable.

I've got a Leghorn and a blue mutt right now that I cannot find. I'm waiting for thirty-odd chicks to appear.
I know that feeling better all too well. I kinda got upset because I observed them for awhile and she stepped on one and wouldn't let me near it to help it so I'm hoping it's ok

Lovely surprise - if you've got room for that many more chicks! On the other matter, I've seen a broody and a rooster stand on a 2-day old chick (inadvertently) and it was fine both times. I think they're made of rubber as newborns :gig
