Has any one ever used the 6 foot x 6 foot white fence panels at lowes (or home depot) for the walls of your coop? I'm wondering if those would work and how to do it.
I used recycled cedar fence panels for the walls of my coop. just had to trim & cut to fit then screw into the framing. it's pretty simple and (IMO) is more rustic looking.
Yup!!! Hurricane Ike hit us and when it was all over we went around picking up old privacy fence that it knocked down, we got a bunch of it free!!!! and that is what my coop is made of, infact for the door of the coop, we took a privacy fence gate door and just attached it to the coop, so when we close the coop, we just use the hinge locks it had....the whole coop is made from that...
wide door, actual fence door, no hardware to buy!
Inside the coop, we did buy the main post new
Roost directly even with the opening on the front of the coop:
We cut an opening on the sides for so we could get eggs
We Left an opened top area, they roost behind and leveled with this so they can see the whole yard, and for air, it has wire across the front for safety
It Houses about 25, and has a dog kennel run attached to it that is 10x10, that is also covered ontop.
The little side cage attached see next to that, was temp. we had porc. d'uccles in it, that we have moved and built them there own coop.
That is directly connect behind this main coop
as you can see to the far left, we have more privacy fence left for more coops!!!
