Fencing

I have a question regarding fencing. We plan to free range our chickens when they are older. Right now they are a month old, and we will be moving them out to the coop tomorrow, under a heat lamp.
I would like to let them out for short periods during the day, and also like to have a fenced area to keep them in when they are older, during those times we are away from home.
What type of fencing is best? Any experience with electric fencing? And how large does the run need to be for about 30 chickens.
They will be in the coop at night of course.

This is a pic of my free range birds place. I used field fencing. If I could do it again I would use goat fencing. That kind as 4 in holes from top to bottem.

The flock sleeps in the silver barn at night. The small red barn is were I raise chicks and/or turkeys. It's hog panels with chicken wire on the inside to keep the babies in.
