First i was given a feral that was rescued from a dog training session, then i was given another feral that was winged by shotgun from a local farm, this pigeons territory is where i live. I housed the two together, both healed and mated, 15 days later along comes junior...so now i have a family. This family appears to be growing again as she is sitting on 2 new eggs. My original plan was to release the adults back into the wild, i figured since they paired up,and the female being locsl she would show the male around...but junior put a damper on that. I still planned on releasing all 3 once junior could fly, well he is now roosting on a perch so he is flying...but now i have 2 more eggs, and dont have the heart to destroy them. So... if i build something better than thier current 2x4 foot square wire cage, and leave it open will these birds fly out and return? Kind of a pigeon free range if you will. Or should i just let them free and be done with it? Ive heard they will return..which is fine i guess, i just want my rabbit cages back. Ill post a pic of the family. The tarp is just to keep the cold rain out since the cage is all wire.
