Okay so my rooster has seemed kind of depressed lately. But one of the hens went broody so I let her keep just three eggs. Well since the rooster basically lays around all day I'm wondering if the eggs are even fertile. On the first day of spring the hen sat on the eggs so it's been almost 3 days. And today I checked all the eggs and removed the unmarked ones and on the marked one I found a few cracks. So I removed it and decided to crack it open just to see if I'd see anything. When I cracked it open it looked like a regular old normal egg you'd make for breakfst...Does this mean they are not fertilized? But I was outside, and there were chunks of dirt in it here and there but I could have sworn I saw blood.

Am I letting my broody waist her time?

I recently read on here that a hen can lay a fertile egg up to 3 weeks after being with a rooster. She may hatch some babies even if it's been days since your roo was active. Also that white bullseye is what you are looking for. It is very small, like a pinhead.

He has been like it for a few months

I jsut took this picture of two different eggs that came around a day after the ones she's sitting on.
