I took a picture of these two eggs; one of my hens was running into the woods when I let her out. My dog Savannah found the nest of eggs. Funny thing is we got rid of the rooster over three weeks ago. The eggs were still fertilized...notice the bulls eye..... Amazing!

I just cracked open a fertile egg myself, to my amazement. Hawkeye's been deceased since April 15 and Zane was hurt the following week, so it's been almost 4 weeks since the girls have had access to a rooster.

Sorry to hear about hawkeye.....Did you incubate Zane's eggs?

I thought that after two weeks they would not be fertile? I am truly amazed!

We collected the four eggs we found in the woods......and she started to lay in her old nesting box.

I only free range at 3 p.m.......until they come back to roost. The one day she was let out at 3 p.m....she took off one way, straight into the woods, and the other three hens stayed around the coop eating grass/bugs....It was the funniest thing the way she took off. Just like that commercial, "I gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now".
