fertilized eggs

    I just bought 1 hen and 1 rooster about 5 months old..when the hen starts laying eggs how many of them will be fertilized eggs?..I just want eggs for eating..how can I tell if they are fertilized or not?

    [​IMG] Should be all of them. You will see a small white bulls eye in the yolk.

    Yep and yep. [​IMG] But soon you will find the feathers on the hens back will start wearing off due to too much attention from the roo. Best get a few more hens for the roo. ( I am an enabler [​IMG]) [​IMG]

    It shouldn't matter. Tastes the same. Is equally as nutritious.

    Collect them regularly so you don't have any sneaky broody hens setting your eggs [​IMG]

    Welcome to BYC!!! I like the way you start right off with the questions lol, great to hear. It depends on if the roosters learning his job or not...and you will see a small black dot on the yolk. you could also try incubating a few. What kind of chickens?
