Pleased to help.. and looks happy about her job.

Despite her small size I have found her invaluable in keeping away predators.

Before she took up the role (on her own volition)... I lost some chicken to mongoose, then chicks to a cat and birds of prey, and even had a rat harassing the birds.

She keeps them all away now.. and is 100 percent trustworthy with the chickens and fancy pigeons... but she does like to steal their feed.... and the occasional egg (if the hens lay one outside the coop).

She even has a special bark when she spots a snake!

LOL. I was expecting something a bit larger but that's awesome that it works for you.

I have a blue heeler who although is a house dog likes to lay at the back door with her head out the dog door watching over the back yard where the chickens, budgies and cockatiels live. I'd like to think she's guarding them but it's more likely she's waiting for the neighbors cat to visit so she can try catching it. My heeler has taught herself to be slow around the chickens so she doesn't scatter the flock with fright. She patiently waits for them to see her and move out of her way (generally unless she spots that pesky cat).

What a cutie! I'd say she's worth the small bit of feed and occasional eaten egg if she protects your flock that well.

I was amazed when she decided to adopt the chicken flock.

She is always with them when they are free ranging... sometimes even the chicks jump on her back.

I have had her for nearly 2 years... just the last 3 months she has got close to the chickens.

I have another mix breed dog... but she is lazy and prefers to sleep in the house most of the time.

She is a cutie that's for sure. She is worth her weight in gold. You don't find to many dogs like that. I have a part australian shep and he is my chickens guardian.

Mine too! I can trust my girl around the chicks and chickens completely. She is protective of her humans and chickens alike.
