fighting over roost bars

Hello, we have a rooster and three hens, five 16-week olds and three 13-week olds. Young ones are chicks from two of the hens.

The two hens (young ones' mamas) won't let young ones roost on the same roost bars......hens are pecking and chasing off young ones off from bars. We have two long (8ft) bars in the coop. One placed higher than the other. We though that would be enough space for all of them. Seems like a rooster doesn't really care about young ones going up on the roost bars though. Is it normal for grown up hens to do that?

Make all the bars the same height

It’s normal for hens to do that. Also, making the bars the same height might make it better, but often regardless of the height they will fight for the best spot.
