FINALLY! a broody hen

Here she is, she's a New Hampshire and she's my first broody. I moved her into a brooding pen in the garage. So the countdown begins, this is day1. She's a large breed so I gave her 12 eggs. I'm so excited!

I candle in 10 days.

Good luck my first hen hatched ones 8 weeks ago all 6 of them sadly one drown the water was too deep hopefully u have good success

Congrats - nothing nicer than seeing a mother hen wondering around with her chicks. I hatch chicks just for that reason.

that's why I'm so excited, it's heartwarming seeing little chicken families. I bought silkies, and OEG hens in hope they'd go broody but they never did, I've been waiting for a broody for about 3 years now.

tomorrow is hatch day... I hear some pipping from the eggs but no chirping.... let's hope all will go well with the hatch!!
