Finally, Chicks!

    Hello everyone!

    After many tries, my broody silkies finally got chicks. They hatched yesterday on day 19. I was so excited that I couldn't leave the girls alone. Hatching is much harder under a broody because you can't watch them hatch without lifting up the broody, which I know they don't like. I've never seen a more vicious hen! [​IMG]
    I am just overjoyed and so happy for my girls. I hope they are good mommas!
    You know what's kinda funny? The color of the chicks almost match thier moms. [​IMG] [​IMG][​IMG][​IMG]

    Awwwwww! i want to have a broody hen but I don't have a rooster.

    Also, if you are using cedar shavings you need to switch to pine shavings. The cedar aroma is a bit overwhelming for chickens.

    Yes, someone told me that earlier. I switched it out for hay.
    Some of my girls have used it their whole lives. Will they be okay?
