I finally got my dad to put siding on the coop! Next step: painting and then flower boxes!

What color should I paint it? I have narrowed my choices down to barn red or a deep green (my dad's idea). I was thinking of painting chicks, chickens , and roosters on the front when everything else is done.

Do you guys have any pictures of that idea??? I'm not much of an artist.

I want the barn red, too because our house has a terra cotta roof that would match the coop. Now I just have to convince my dad...

That's a great looking coop!

What color is your house? Do you have any other buildings on your property? If so, what color are they? That's usually how I decide. I either match the house, match the other outbuildings or at least pick a color that won't clash. Some people have neutral colored houses and some are more daring.

If you want to do decorative painting, I think that would be fantastic! Will your background color choice effect how your decorative painting shows up?

Thanks. My dad (a carpenter) did it. He deserves the credit.

Like I said, my house is stucco with terra cotta roof, so I think barn red is best. Whatever the background color is, I am still doing the chicken pictures!!!

I like the deep green with some trim and yes, the chicken murals added for extra POP!! That's a nice building and it's like a blank canvas!

I like buildings that are a sort of quiet background color... with brighter trim for extra personality beyond that.

That being said though, a good friend did have a cement block wall that we painted a brighter blue color then painted wildflowers in bright colors all along it, the blocks were so ugly there was no way to really hide it, so we went the opposite way with it, it was kitschy and cute and cheerful. This was in Anchorage though where there's all kinds of wacky stuff like that. Fun!

It just depends and you should have fun with it, I could never live where they have those covenent rules!! UGH!!
