Today I was out working on the chickens coop and all of the sudden from behind me I hear the strangest sound out of one of the speckled sussex roosters, who is about 16 weeks now. For a second I thought he was dying or something but I quickly realized when I looked and saw him all tall and stretched with his hackle feathers all sticking out, that he was just trying out his crowing ability (or rather still lack thereof!) It was too funny!!

I love crowing, especially those first squeaky ones. My Delaware cockerel, Jake, is now 16 weeks old and has yet to let loose.
