I got my first egg from one of my hatchery "Ameraucanas"... I was taken aback as she is barely even 5 months old... I have never had a hen lay before they were at least 6 months in age... Should I be concerned?

Most of my birds started around four months. That's relatively young for an Easter egger, but I wouldn't be concerned.

That is early.....doubt there's reason for concern tho....unless bird seems unhealthy or in distress.

But curiosity makes me wonder if your EE cross has a high production in it's background..... or got mixed up at hatch.

    Got a pic?

    Hi, welcome to BYC! [IMG]

That sounds on par with some. My BR were laying by 20 weeks. For me ALL of the EE I have had were inconsistent layers. [IMG] Don't they know how excited I am to collect an array of colorful eggs?! [IMG]

I certainly love the colorful eggs I get to collect... But not as much as I love my chickens... lol
