I incubated my first batch of quail eggs back in June, so they'll be 7 weeks old Saturday, August 7th. One of them laid an egg today. [IMG] This is so exciting, bringing life into the world, and then being able to watch them grow, and then AN EGG!!!!!!

The next day I separated my roos from my hens. There are 17 total in that batch. I was dead certain 7 of them are roos. The other 10 I was certain 8 were hens, kinda iffy bout the other 2, so I kept those 10 together. I have been getting 9 eggs a day for the past week!! [IMG]
Not bad, huh? Now, I just gotta go back thru them and find that other roo, lol. He needs to go in the freezer pen with the other 7.

I have 50 eggs go on lockdown today, am hoping for a better live-hatch rate than last time. I made a few mistakes last time, it being my first. Now that I know just how finicky quail are, I think I have a better chance this go-round.

    Yeah, I think I'm addicted.....[IMG]
