I finally got an egg the day after Thanksgiving! I think the hens were getting the hint that we were hungry... eggs or them! [IMG]
I am pleased to say that my 6 month old Buff layed it IN the nest box, didn't peck at it and the size is the same as the ones from the market. Better yet, she lays one every other day!
Phew, just as I was about to quit!

Congrats! I'm still waiting for my first... I'm hoping for a Christmas egg [IMG] but I'm not lighting the coop, so my pullets might wait until the days are a bit longer, who knows.

Don't you love that they instinctively know that they should lay in the nest? It's so cool when they diappear for a few minutes, as if to excuse themselves to go to the ladies room.

Though, in a way, that's what it is. heh

Congrats on that first egg. It's like Easter every day, only the eggs are in the same spot.

Congrats on the first egg! Did you parade around them with an axe in the week or so leading up to the egg? [IMG]
