We got our first egg today! I know everyone goes through this, but it sure is exciting for a newbie. I've watched our leghorns combs and waddles get larger and redder and knew the time was coming. One of them had been making the most painful sounding squawking noises for the last two days, and yesterday when I reached down for her she squatted and spread her wings so I knew, based on what I've read on here, that the time had come to really check the egg boxes. Just went out to check them and there was a white egg present! Woot Woot!!!! I've been telling them if they didn't soon start putting out they were destined for the dinner table - I guess they finally took me serious ;-)
