Had my husband make my nesting boxes about a week and a half ago while he was on vacation. This week I’ve noticed a couple of my girls getting curious about them. And today I noticed one of my ISA Browns (named Red) go into the box. (We used cat litter pans for them) so after running a few errands my 3 yo granddaughter and went to check and found that first egg. She was so happy. Now she says she wants to check again tomorrow for another. I think she’ll be taking over my girls.

:woot Congrats. It takes a lot of work to get that first egg, so it deserves a proper shout out. BTW, my ISA Brown was the first to lay an egg in my flock, too. When I have to replace my exisiting backyard flock, I think I'll get more ISA Brown chicks next time. Another good egg layer for me was my California White hen.
