First egg!

Who would have thought that it takes nine months to lay an egg??

My hens are nine months to the day today and just as I was about to give up hope of seeing any eggs til spring, I opened up the coop to let them roam and lo and behold in the poop (darn hen didnt lay in the nesting box) was a nice brown egg! I was so excited I grabbed up that egg and started running for the house...the stupid birds started running behind me! You should have seen it...me running frantically while yelling, "quit following me, quit following me!" A sight good enough for funniest home videos for sure

, but that is fine, I got my egg!!

Sounds like you were doing a scene from a monster flick---anger mob chasing monster carrying off an innocent!!

I am glad that I am not the only one that gets excited to find an egg in the coop!

I was doing Pee Wee Herman's new shoes dance in my yard after my 1st egg--then after each new colored egg.
