We live in Texas, in town. Was throwing scraps to the dog when I heard all the commotion. Then saw something fly up, thought it was Burbon Red Turkey, (not enough coffee at that time) then saw that it was a HAWK and couldn't make out which species. Apparently it was on the gound in the goat barn with them. Ran to check on everyone, they were a little startled but were more interested in breakfast when I came through the gate. I watched for about 30min and Hawk did not return. After reading a post about a hawk chowing down on a hen in the coop on her nest I don't think netting will help. Nor is the .22 an option, darn. Any other suggestions? We are open range, and have 2 Roos and one overbaring Turkey looking over my 5 layers. Also read that Hawks are migrating, suspect that lasts as long as it does for other migratory birds like dove and geese.
