Hi there. So, I have had 4 hens for a little over a year now. They all did really great their first year. Yesterday, while cleaning the coop, I noticed one of the hens just sitting in the yard...almost looking like she was trying to lay an egg. I paid no mind to it and carried on. I checked on them later in the day and the hen was still sitting in the same spot...looking like she was trying to lay. Nightfall came and she and the others went to bed as normal. I let them out this morning and all seemed ok, by this afternoon she was gone.
Not sure if its connected, but there was also a VERY dark brown egg in the box today. Typically 2 of them would lay light brown eggs and the other 2 would lay greenish eggs. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you all
