My fiance and I put the finishing touches on the coop tonight and our ladies are spending their first night outside... aah! It's supposed to be 50 degrees outside, and they're 6 weeks old. They're going to be okay, right? Is 50 degrees too cold for them? I think I'm going to be out at least every hour tonight checking on them, like when we first brought them home... Poor chicks won't sleep a wink!

I have had chicks of 6 or so weeks outside at night with temperatures probably lower than 50 degrees, but I covered the house with an old woollen blanket and provided hay bedding. If there are quite a few they all hunch together and keep each other warm. Make sure they are well fed as well. (And, yes, I went to check they were Ok in the middle of the night for the first few nights),
