I put my duckling, who is now 3 weeks old, in the bath tub today and he had a BALL! I was gone for a week and can't believe how much he has changed. He has grown so much.

At first he was a little scared of the tub but once he got use to it, he was having so much fun. He was diving under the water and dunking his head. The water wasn't deep enough for him to float but he still had fun. Gotta make "tub time" an every day thing until I can get a pen made where he can have a kiddy pool all the time.

I let mine swim in the tub when they are 3 days old. Warm water first of course. At 2.5 weeks I usually kick them out of the house into the duck house. That is when they first get rubbermaid storage container that are shallow. From there one it goes up to the small kiddie pool and a larger one as they grow. I do put a concrete block inside so they can get out. Same for the outside round. The larger pools have decks with stairs I've build and they work really nice for the ducks.

I haven't got any kind of housing outside yet. this is my very first duck. That's why I'm so excited about his first swim...

. Nobody at the farm store where I work, thought he was going to live, so I brought him home.

I'm actually very surprised (and happy) that he will even let me touch him let alone pick him up after being gone for a week.

I'm getting an outside dog kennel to put him in, along with the 5 chicks and other duck we ordered, after they get bigger. But we have to build a coop for them.
