    Hello all!
Well, I have ventured into the world of chickens. It is my senior year of high school and I have decided to take on 25 broilers that I will be receiving this week at one day old for live stock shows. I have received information regarding raising chicks, but here's the thing. Every student in the state of Texas gets their chicks from the same breeder and the only way to win at shows is by raising them in ideal conditions. So I am here, asking the experts, on the ideal way to raise these chicks to have the upper hand on the competitions. What food, which living areas, etc etc. sorry I am so new to this!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you joined the flock! It's my senior year as well and I've done broilers before. Start the chicks out on a medicated chick starter crumbles of 18% or 20%. I've had some people telling me only for four days but I would go at least two weeks for the better immune system. After that give them 22% protein. Keep an eye on them. The fatter they are the easier they die. If the fall on their back and can't get up they can die. In my opinion give them a little bit of oyster shells. Just to prevent bone damage and grow healthy feathers. Make sure they have plenty of room to move around a bit. If you need more fat on them give them cracked corn. Cracked corn can help fatten them up pretty quick.
