I just purchased four barred rock chicks today. They're two days old and I have put them in their brooder with food and water. My question is, they don't seem to be eating a whole lot. They pick at their food as well as explore and pick at other things. Is this normal? Are they getting enough food?

Their yolk sacs give them food, so they don't need food for the first few days. They will start eating. Water is very important though. Take them and dip their beak then lift them back upright so they can swallow the water. Do this for each chick. You only need to do this once to show them where the water is. Also, chicks can drown in very little water. If you have marbles, put them in the water container.

I don't mean to ask an obvious question, but you do have a heat lamp for them, right?

ETA: Congrats!

Yes I have a heat lamp and a thermometer in there. They all have been drinking water so I don't think that should be a problem. And yes I got them starter chick feed.
