Hi. My kids and I have hatched a chick for the first time today. We had 2 eggs in the incubator and up until about a week ago, they were both progressing the same, however when I candled them early last week, one egg was totally black inside whereas the other still had a bit of "light" at the top. Only one egg has hatched. Should I attempt to crack open the other egg and see if there is a viable chick in there?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have one child who is heartbroken [IMG]

[IMG] & [IMG] I'd give the other egg at least 2 more days. Some hatch a little later.

Do I need to clean out the incubator each time he poops right now? I don't want to open it and change the temperature?
