I intend to incubate some black australorp hatching eggs and either Plymouth barred rock or Orpington eggs I haven’t decided. My question is will it be easy to identify these breeds by feather sexing? Or is this unreliable? Secondly, if anyone owns barred rocks/ orpingtons, are they quiet? Would you recommend them? Thanks

I would HIGHLY recommend Orpingtons. Quiet and docile. I never feather sex, I wait until they are older and it's obvious who's which gender. I would get an Orpington color other than black so you can tell apart the Australorps and the Orpingtons.
