So I've always wanted to keep my own chickens and have finally done it! I was able to build an Aframe chicken tractor out of all recycled/scrap materials (minus the chicken wire). I also built my own feeder, and am in the process of building my own waterer. This last Sunday (2/24/13) I bought two Americauna hens off Craigslist, and so far theyve already laid two eggs each. In only having them for two days I already have a list of questions, but thanks to everyones willingness to share on the forums, alot of them are slowly being answered!!!

Below are pics of the tractor, and the ladies' (which my wife named "fried" and "scrambled") first eggs.

Hello and welcome to BYC

Cute little coop you got there. Not sure about the names though! LOL If you have questions type keywords relating to your query into the search bar above. Just below the brown header. For example if your hen is not laying and you want to know why, type in "hen not laying". It's just like Google, really, Chicken Google. There is some great threads, articles and discussions on every chicken topic here. Enjoy!

Hey thanks for the warm welcomes! ........and yes......those are their permanent names

. Just for the record I voted for "old lady" names like Ethyl and Gertrude but my wife wasnt nearly as excited as I was about my new "adventure" so I let her do the naming.
