Yesterday I bought 12 egg laying chicks (9 Rhode Island reds and 3 bantams) and I'm in the process of building the coop now, and I'm not sure how high off the ground and the dimensions to make the boxes for the hens to lay the eggs in. Anyone have some measurements?

12x12 is a good size with the opening being slightly smaller, but mine seem to like the tighter boxes, try to mount them lower than your perches or they will want to perch in the nest boxes.

Seems I read several times to make the boxes 12x12
My hens dont care as long as they fit in there, and sometimes they still put their eggs on the floor in a corner.
I dont think there is a set limit on how high off the floor to put them. Just make sure the girls can get up to them easily.
