Hello my name is Debra, and i live in Australia and i have a 6 week old buff silkie that im treating like a baby! im so inlove! but just want to keep Little Lucy Happy. first chicken, city girl! so i kinda have no clue what im doing, just googling alot and loving her. any important advice i need to know apart from keeping warm and feeding her little chicken feed? looking forward to making friends and chatting about our chickens :)

Welcome and read lots. The learning center is a good place to start. At 6 weeks heat shouldn't be much of an issue since it's probably quite warm there now.

Chickens are flock animals and need friends. I did know someone that raised a silkie as a lone house chicken but it had dogs and cats in the house that it dominated and it thought it was a dog.
I do not recommend that approach though.

Hello and welcome to BYC

I agree with the above post. Chickens are very social creatures and your chick will be happy with a chick buddy. And do check out the Learning Center here. There are some great articles on chicken keeping there.
