All:
This is such a terrible story. The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the DeBary, FL city council has decided to end a one-year trial program on December 31st, that allowed residents the right to own backyard coops. The request came up when the family of a little 3-year old autistic boy found that their son was being cured by his relationship with the adorable chickens.
Councilmember Nick Koval "defends his decision to disallow chicken coops. He thinks chickens 'don't belong' in residential homes or communities."
Perhaps if we get enough people to call or write city council members in DeBary, the decision to deprive this little boy and other townspeople of their right to own backyard chickens will be reversed.

Official family petition to council to allow residential chickens:

Hopefully we can garner thousands of chicken lovers to come to the aid of DeBary and little JJ so he can keep his pets.
Thanks,
