Thanks to all of you who took Flat Stanley into your home and showed him around your city. Kathyrn made an "A". Flat Stanley was a very busy boy. He went to China and hiked the Great Wall of China and flew First Class on AA to France, visited Ky, and Tn. That's all I know of right now. Kathyrn presented all 4 of hers ( we took him Christmas tree hunting) in Boone,NC. Kathyrn had the most to present. So thanks for helping her out. We named her report "Flat Stanley's North American Adventure"

Both of my kids had the Flat Stanley project when they were in school. My friends and relatives had lots of fun with it. [IMG]

Well, I never heard of Flat Stanley. Thought maybe I just didn't recognize the name and looked it up. Not remotely familiar. Not in our schools here, I guess. Is this relatively new? Maybe my kids have been out of school way too long or something

I had not heard of it until my daughter had the project when she was in about 2nd gd (I think?) She is in 8th gd now. The project is based on a book. I'd have to look and see when the book was published. We still have our Flat Stanley in a memory box somewhere.

Well, my oldest is 30, so this must have been after they got out of school.

Both my kids were in classes in elementary school where they sent a flat stanley traveling abroad. Really a fun project for the kids and they learn alot about the places he travels. I think one periodically shows up at the white house too. Glad he had a fun trip for your daughter Diane...hope the job interview for you went as well [IMG] Darlene

It's a fairly recent thing, started in 1995. The whole premise of the book is that a little boy Stanley is flattened by a bulletin board, so now he can do all sorts off cool things, like slide through small spaces and be a kite for his kid brother. Because he can be folded and mailed, he can travel just about anywhere. It's a thing done in about 2 or 3rd grade, and is usually a big class project. My aunt took my son's Flat Stanley on a Texas history tour in her county, and had is picture taken at the gates of Chuck Norris' Lone Wolf Ranch. My best friend took Stanley to Forbidden Gardens, a replica site of the Terra Cotta Soldiers in China near Houston.

I've not heard of it either, but my kids are 33 and 30.
