Flies living in wattles?

Hi all
I have a bcm rooster who is indoors being treated for a neck injury, i notice he has white fruit flies crawling on his wattles, seems only there. I check his vent and all other feathers and he seems only wattles. They fly and fly onto my arms when i hold him. I cannot find any information about wattle flies only stickfast fleas and these fly so it cannot be. I want to treat him, any i deas?
He is 6 months on cage rest from the vet, eating 18% food

I try it is so hard they are small. It is poultry lice i think but just around his head. How do you treat?

Permethin spray is good for mites and lice. TSC and feed stores sell it, but read mixing instructions carefully. I think it is 1/2 ounce per gallon for chickens, but double check with instructions. Temporarily, you could use coconut oil, castor oil, or vaseline-based ointments to smother them.
