Flooring for my brooder?

We're using a rubbermade bucket for our brooder.
What should we put down as flooring for the chicks?

Do you mean bedding? I use pine shavings (the larger type so they don't eat it)

Yeah I meant bedding. I've seen people use paper towels, newspaper, shavings and an assortmant of other things. I was wondering what the take is on shredded paper? I love to recycle when I can and at work we have a paper shredder that shreds paper into small chunks of paper (instead of strips) and I use it for our guinea pig cages and I have used it to add to nesting boxes for our Rabbits in the winter months... but I don't know how the chicks will do with it.
