22° at 7:30am wind chill of 11. I have never before gotten a wind chill emergency weather alert. At least it is sunny. We got a dusting of snow again last night, mostly looks like thick frost. The ladies were chatty this morning while eating and then cuddled up under the roses against the house in the sun. Hopefully we will get warm enough for me to get some pics later. For now here is Katniss trying really hard to get my iguana to play with her

Between Monday and Thursday I got 11 eggs from my 3 girls. There's 2 dozen in the fridge, after 7 in the quiche. I'm glad they last a long time and our neighbors are glad of the overflow.

Yes fresh eggs do last a long time!

He isn't named. The one I had last spring/summer had to be put down. He is one of this past year's broody hatched. He looks completely like a DC coloring wise, etc, but he isn't as heavy set as DC (I'm assuming he is 1/2 DC & 1/2 EE, (mom/dad) HE will let me pick him up. Not fond of it, initially, but settles down once he is in my arms.

He's a beauty - how about Hector he looks like a a Hector! And he has a wonderful knobbeldy comb

I think so on the duckwing. Problem with that is I'm not sure when it's used in description and when it isn't.

Sorry to laugh, but I am happy it is not just me who gets confused by chicken naming conventions!

I am back home and it is Friday! There are eggs in the nest box and Babs has a very fluffy butt.

I'm pretty sure harassing eagles is illegal - even if they're harassing you first. I'd love to have eagles nesting. I can't let the chickens out for fear of hawks. May as well up the ante to eagles.

Someday I'll get all the breeds in my head...but not yet. What type of chicken is the next to last picture? I'd love to see another view of her! They're all gorgeous!

Sorry for my long absence... I have been super busy the past week. Yes, I am on here during school... I signed onto my account on my school computer.... All of my birds are okay, Willow is part of the flock, although she is clearly at the bottom of the pecking order... BBQ went back out with the flock last Thursday, and she is fine. Bolt is cute as ever, Splotch is bullying everyone as usual, Pastel has an attitude, and all of my guineas are loud.... Oh, also, we have a HUGE Yellow Rat Snake is our chicken coop eating eggs.... I'm gonna try and get him out and release him later today.
