Twofer Tuesday... Two highly curious chickens and two highly curious chicks.

Doing my best Mama Hen and keeping those pesky Wyandotte hens away. It was sunny but so cold today. Managed to plant a ton of wildflower seeds in my wildflower area today (Johnny Jump Ups was one of them!).

The babies joined me in the greenhouse yesterday to help me plant my herbs. We are SO close to having the new coop done, I am getting so impatient. But I have to wait until this weekend for the babies to be moved in there, and then I start setting up the run.

This guy had a nervous breakdown and got extremely violent...bye bye Dutch. :(
I can only do so much work on the run by myself so it's going too slowly.
Also, would it be possible to hire a couple of high school boys that you could direct on building the run? Or invite some family/friends to come have a barn-raising (run-raising) with you one Saturday? Grill hamburgers, buy a bunch of drinks and get 'er done.
If my 3 sons hadn't come one weekend and built my original run and prefab coop almost 2 years ago, I still would not have chickens. (And it was their idea). DH would never have done it and I would have missed out on all of this.

That is such a neat idea for your property!

In our hot SoCalif climate a pond would be a great mosquito breeding ground! We are forever emptying any accumulated water in pots after rain or the mosquitos can arrive like locusts!

Lots of babies around here!
Yes, too many for me to support 😢

I'm leaning more shades of brown (due to prospective egg color), but I like Fenna, Saskia, and Anouk.

Great idea!

Happy Wednesday everyone
Geronimo demanded that she feature in Wattle Wednesday. I tried to explain that her wattles are not really very impressive, but she did not accept that argument.
So here you are, Geronimo - a very pretty lady with not very impressive wattles!
